This third solo album by
Shotta finds the Seville MC on the road to maturity, toning down (but certainly not abandoning) his original corrosive, salacious persona in favor of more personal, socially conscious texts, as in the lead single title track.
Profundo is also
Shotta's most ambitious record to date from a musical standpoint, as it relies on the beats of maverick producer DJ Griffi, whose work typically eschews facile categorization. Unprecedentedly for
Shotta, the album includes only two guests, his elder brother
Tote King in "Hermanos" and Wöyza in "Ya No Volverán." ~ Mariano Prunes
