Like fellow Amici di Maria De Filippi graduates
Alessandra Amoroso and
Emma Marrone,
Loredana Errore made her commercial recording debut with an EP,
Ragazza Occhi Cielo, released shortly after the reality show's season finale. Like
Amoroso's
Stupida (2009) and Marrone's
Oltre (2010),
Ragazza Occhi Cielo includes several songs written by the tandem of
Federica Camba and
Daniele Coro. A couple of the
Camba/
Coro songs, "La Voce Delle Stelle" and "La Vedova Nera," are quite good. It's impressive how that tandem can continue to churn out so many good songs with such frequency. Even better than the three
Camba/
Coro songs on
Ragazza Occhi Cielo are the three written by Italian pop star
Biagio Antonacci. The chart-topping title track is one of them and it's wondrous, in particular on the soaring chorus, where
Errore showcases the strength of her vocals. "L'Ho Visto Prima Io" is another, and it likewise includes a chorus that puts
Errore's vocals on showcase. The third
Antonacci song, "Oggi Tocchi a Me," is a cover of a song from his album
Convivendo, Pt. 2 (2005). In addition to the three songs each by
Camba/
Coro and
Antonacci, Ragazza Occhi Cielo includes "L'Inventario," a song by
Laura Pausini collaborator
Daniel Vuletic. All in all, there's a remarkably high concentration of great songs on
Ragazza Occhi Cielo.
Errore is lucky to have some of Italy's finest songwriters working for her. As for
Errore herself, there's no question that she's blessed with a strong voice and has a compelling backstory (born in Bucharest, Romania, and adopted by an Italian family), but without the strength of the material on
Ragazza Occhi Cielo, she wouldn't stand out from the numerous other Italian reality show singers like she does here on this stellar debut effort.
