Recorded in 1995, Supermodels broke the long hiatus since Cringe (1991). Having lost drummer Nicholas "Ogs" Loizides, the group had done some tours with Steve Wren sitting in on the traps. But without a recording label and management, the group was rather directionless and bereft of new material. This changed in 1994 with the great new songs collected here, written mostly by guitarist Derek "Del Boy" Greening. With the band having picked up new management, the demos of this material got We Bite Records interested. The strength of this record led to a
Peter & the Test Tube Babies resurgence, including new albums and reissues. After much consternation, the group settled on drummer Hans Perrson (
Flesh for Lulu). Bursting forth with new life, solid drumming from Perrson, and the pent-up creativity of the early '90s, this is one of the strongest album in the group's discography. ~ Tom Schulte
