A handful of EPs later, Matt Corby releases his first real studio album. On Telluric, the familiar light falsetto voice of the young Australian has given way to darker, introspective vocals. And to thank that all the way back in 2007, a 16-year-old Corby finished second at the Australian Idol... Time has ripened the fruit, with the Sidney songwriter having now truly found a style of his own. A rather haunting music drawing from both weightless folk to a sort of melancholic soul - almost sensual. Between Gnarls Barkley and Bon Iver, Corby sits with the ease of an old veteran and plays with great conviction. A revelation. © CM/Qobuz
