While normally noted for being a straight-up rock & roll band, on much of The Buzz of 1,000 Volts,
Electric Frankenstein seems to smack of a cheap version of a
Motörhead or
AC/DC album, but without all the guitar solos (although there are a few) or screaming. Instead, the band keeps a consistent beat like a hobbling old man and just seems to drive straight-ahead like many of those '80s hard rock bands. While this album is far superior to any of their previous releases, it seems to lack much of the punch that one would expect a real rock album to have.
Electric Frankenstein seems pretty content just doing a standard job of rocking without any of the flair that makes great albums great. ~ Kurt Morris
