King Cobra: The Chicago Sessions is a solid reissue of Ike Turner & His Kings of Rhythm turning out the R&B in Chicago in 1958 and 1959. Containing 18 tracks, there are no less than five alternate takes and eight unissued tracks. This is bold, scorching R&B that has more than a modicum of rollicking rock & roll in its marrow.
Betty Everett sings on four tacks and the standouts include "You Got to Lose," "I'll Weep No More (Matchbox)," and "Box Top." ~ Thom Jurek
