Paulinho Nogueira is a virtuoso of Brazilian fingerstyle violão. This album recorded in 1986 and only released 11 years after has his delicate style, where there is room for more up-tempo sambas ("Menino Desce Daí," his first recorded composition in 1962) or frevos ("Frevinho Doce"), but harmonically he sticks to the Brazilian tradition of sweet chords, therefore his writing and playing don't push the envelope, but provide for involving moments of tenderness. He is correctly and economically accompanied in some tracks by the expert musicians Toninho Carrasqueira (flute) and
João Parahiba (percussion). ~ Alvaro Neder
