Yellow Note's jungle meets the more cryptic machine codes of Daleks in this crafty one-off from the bowels of New York City. Hip-hop has undergone quite a mutation over time, especially in the core of the Big Apple, but Yellow Note take things a step further--by mixing it up with the Daleks, the hip goes trip, the hop gets hipper, and jungle, techno, and sound collage all get tossed into the sonic stew.
The two-part "Journey" is an exercise that accomplishes the abovementioned, with its ghostly train sounds piping over its jazzy, hip-hop beat and its Kerouac-like MC narrating the tour. "Thumbelina" is atmospheric drum-and-bass with just the right amount of spit and polish: popping basslines counterpoint zippy Moog bursts and sampled trumpet clusters. A heady brew for curbside club hoppers--and, in case you were interested, Yellow Note and the Daleks are one and the same person. How about that?
