Belgian harpsichordist
Ewald Demeyere studied with
Jos van Immerseel and earned his master’s degree in 1997 at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Following his studies,
Demeyere taught harmony, counterpoint, and fugue at the Royal Conservatory. He was appointed professor of harpsichord in 2002, succeeding
van Immerseel.
Demeyere has played chamber music with
Barthold Kuijken,
Sigiswald Kuijken,
Wieland Kuijken,
Paul Dombrecht, and
Frank Theuns, and he has performed as a member of the period ensembles
Il Fondamento and
La Petite Bande.
Demeyere plays a modern copy of an 18th century harpsichord by Henri Hemsch, constructed by Augusto Bonza. He has recorded for Accent and Challenge Classics.
