Icelandic singer
Glowie delivers confident, R&B-influenced pop. She made her major-label debut with the body-positive single "Body" in 2018.
Born and raised in Reykjavík by musical parents (her mother sometimes sang backup in her father's band), Sara Pétursdóttir grew up listening to singers including
Destiny's Child,
Justin Timberlake, and
Taylor Swift. She became passionate about singing around the age nine, and in her teens, she started spending time in recording studios and adopted the stage name
Glowie. In 2015, when she was 18, StopWaitGo released her song "No More" featuring Stony. She was featured on
iLL BLU's "Tribalist (Get to Know)" in 2017, and in 2018, after relocating to London, she made her Columbia Records debut with "Body," a single written by
Julia Michaels. The follow-up, 2019's "Cruel," was co-penned by Grammy- and Emmy-nominated songwriter
Kara DioGuardi. ~ Marcy Donelson
