Leland Whitty is a Toronto-based saxophonist, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist is best known as a member of the raucous instrumental Toronto-bred jazz and hip-hop outfit
BadBadNotGood and their R&B offshoot, Easy Feelings Unlimited. He has also worked as a sideman with a number of artists including
Kali Uchis, Tesseract,
Eschaton, and Charlotte Wilson. He has worked in touring and production capacities with
Kendrick Lamar,
Ghostface Killah,
Snoop Dogg,
Colin Stetson,
Mary J. Blige,
Camila Cabello,
Earl Sweatshirt, and
Kaytranada. He splits his time playing with
BadBadNotGood, composing, and doing production work.
In February of 2020, in collaboration with bandmate Alexander Sowinski,
Whitty released the score and original soundtrack for the film Disappearance at Clifton Hill. The following month, a collaboration with former bandmate
Matthew Tavares resulted in the psychedelic spiritual jazz outing
Visions for
Mr. Bongo; their rhythm section included
Julian Anderson-Bowes on bass and drummer
