Lone Taxidermist is the left-field pop project of Natalie Sharp, whose powerful vocals, witty lyrics, and flamboyant performances call to mind
Diamanda Galas, Siouxsie Sioux, and
X-Ray Spex's
Poly Styrene. A London-based makeup artist and skin decorator whose clients include
Jenny Hval and
Gazelle Twin as well as Vogue Magazine and Google, Sharp performed with the chamber pop group the Bottomfeeders before striking out on her own in the late 2000s. On releases such as the 2013 single "S.L.A.G.," she honed a theatrical electro-pop sound and a look to match. To record
Lone Taxidermist's debut album, Sharp collaborated with Phil Winter (also of Tuung and
Wrangler), Hjordis Moon Badford, and Will Kwerk at producer Ben Edwards' Bodwin Moor studio. Preceded by the single "Knicker Elastic," the full-length
Trifle appeared on Memetune in 2017. ~ Heather Phares
