A London-based singer/songwriter with a hushed, moody tone,
Nadine Khouri was born in Lebanon where she lived until she was nine. An early devotee of shoegaze and the noir-ish melancholia of bands like
Mazzy Star and
Low,
Khouri began her career in London, independently releasing her debut album, Cuts from the Inside, in 2005. She soon decamped to the U.S., plying her trade as an acoustic singer/songwriter in New York and releasing an EP, A Song to the City, in 2010. A mix of folk and atmospheric indie rock, her material ranged in influence from
Leonard Cohen to dream pop. Returning to London, she eventually crossed paths with producer
John Parish (
PJ Harvey,
Eels,
Giant Sand) and began developing material for what would become her second LP,
The Salted Air. Released in 2017,
The Salted Air was widely hailed by critics and became
