Steve Bartek missed an early entrée to the rock music world. At age 16, the Ohio-born/Glendale, CA-raised music student found himself sitting in on the first album recording sessions for
Strawberry Alarm Clock with his slightly older friend
George Bunnell, when he found himself pressed into service playing the flute and various other instruments. He ended up being offered a spot in the band, which his mother would not allow. He did eventually move into music as a profession, however, working with such outfits as Buffington Rhodes, Little Billy & the Astros,
Oingo Boingo, and Doug & the Mystics, as well as collaborating in the film music field with
Danny Elfman. ~ Bruce Eder
