Ziggy Alberts

Folk

An Australian singer/songwriter with lyrical, laid-back sound, Ziggy Alberts initially emerged as a busker in 2011 before issuing his 2013 debut, Made of Water. He broke even wider when his album Laps Around the Sun cracked the top ten in Australia.
Born in 1994, Alberts grew up on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, where he was homeschooled until his teens. He then attended a public school, graduating in 2001 at age 16. Upon leaving school, his parents gave him an acoustic guitar, and Alberts spent the next few years developing his craft. By 2011, he was performing his own songs while busking around Australia's East Coast, and in 2012 he released his debut EP, Feels Like Home. His debut full-length, Made of Water, arrived in 2013. A year later, he returned with his sophomore album, Land & Sea, and spent much of the next few years touring. In 2018, he issued Laps Around the Sun, which included the singles "Love Me Now" and "Stronger." The album peaked at number nine on the Australian charts. ~ Matt Collar
