German pop vocalist
Zoe Wees is an emotive performer with a dusky, R&B-influenced style. She scored a hit with her 2019 debut single, "Control," which paved the way for her 2021 EP
Golden Wings.
Born in Hamburg,
Wees began singing at a young age, inspired by artists like
Jessie J and
Miley Cyrus. A teacher took notice of her voice at a school concert and helped develop her talents. She had her first brush with fame in 2015 competing on season three of The Voice Kids, where she made it to the finals. Following her time on the show,
Wees launched her career, appearing on
Moonbootica's 2019 song "Hibernating." That same year, she released her debut single, "Control." A dramatic piano-driven ballad, the song was inspired by
Wees' childhood battle with benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE). The track eventually cracked the Top 40 in Germany, Belgium, and Austria, and landed on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart. In May 2021, she released her debut EP,
Golden Wings, which included "Control," as well as the Top Ten German hit "Girls Like Us" and "Ghost." ~ Matt Collar
