It’s as harsh as ever it was. And its expiry date is still a long way off. Iron Maiden are still playing in the big leagues. Do they need to prove it? Scarcely recovered from his tongue cancer, Bruce Dickinson laid any doubts to rest with a monster world tour with 117 dates across 39 countries in 2016 and 2017. Co–produced by Tony Newton and the bassist from Steve Harris's group, The Book Of Souls: Live Chapter immortalises the most feverish moments from the tour. Harris explains: "We spent a huge amount of time working on this to get it as close as possible to the Maiden live experience and to represent our fans from different parts of the world." Two hours of listening later, here we are with two discs, fifteen tracks, six from the eponymous album, never-before-seen tracks and cult classics being blasted out in San Salvador, Fortaleza, or at home in Donington. © CS/Qobuz
