It would be an understatement to say that Abraham Mateo is a young Spanish artist yearning for international success. Only 17 years old, Abraham Mateo is the young promising Spanish artist, not only in his native country, or even Latin America, but also worldwide.
He has released three albums so far: AM (2013), Who I AM (2014) and Are You Ready (2015), all of them gold-certified in Spain (Who I AM and Are You Ready, during the first week after they were released). Who I AM is now platinum-certified in Spain. His albums –written by Abraham himself- have been produced in London and Los Angeles by some of the top-notch professionals in the music industry, who have also produced smash singles & albums by superstars like Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Ariana Grande or Rihanna.
He burst onto the music scene with his debut single, Señorita. The music video for this song cracked 100 million views: A record figure on the Spanish market, and even more if we are talking about the debut single by a young upcoming artist (he was only 15 when the single came out).
The numbers of Abraham Mateo's followers (“Abrahamers”) are also striking: Over thirty one fanclubs around the world (Latin America, US, Canada, Philippines, Italy, France, Thailand, India…) with whom Abraham keeps in touch permanently. Almost 5.2 million “likes” on Facebook, over one million followers on Twitter, 1.2 on Instagram, and he also counts more than one million subscribers to his channel on Youtube/VEVO, accumulating a total of 270 millions views. These are record numbers that place Abraham Mateo among the elite of international musicians.
At an international level, Abraham is at his best: He gave sold-out concerts at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires (2014 and 2015), a legendary sold-out show at the Teatro Metropolitan (Mexico DF), and he also announced a new show at the Mexican Auditorio Nacional next October 2016. His album Who I AM scored the #1 position on the best-selling albums charts in Mexico, thus confirming -once more- his success on the other side of the Atlantic ocean.
Abraham Mateo is not only a performer; he has also proven to have an innate talent as an integral artist. He was born on 25 August 1998 in San Fernando (Cádiz, Spain) and he has long been related to music, which proves his vocational impulse. When he was 7 he won several prizes on TV shows and when he was 9 he got the Revelación Nacional Prize. Simultaneously, he took music and singing lessons and took part in some TV series as an actor. After recording his first album, Abraham Mateo's style has changed radically, developing his abilities as an artist, recording his songs, uploading them to the web and becoming a sensation on internet.
