After completing his high school education in Erzincan, in 1987 he attended the Turkish Music State Conservatory at Istanbul Technical University. Following his graduation, he instructed on note, solfege and baglama in various places as well as his own musical school for a while . During this period, he accompanied many artists both on stage and in their album works. He appeared with Zulfu Livaneli between 1997-1999, Sukriye Tutkun between 1999-2004 and Yildiz Tilbe between 2004-2006 as a baglama player on their stage performances. Furthermore, he has been performing as a studio musician since 1999. Between the years 1999-2000, he contributed both as a chorus singer and a baglama player to the choral album of Turkish Folk Music named “Halimiz Ahvalimiz” composed of 8 albums. He also accompanied the musical “Sultan Gelin” staged at The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theater as a guest musician with his baglama.
In 2004, his band named Orient Expressions, performing ethnic and electronic music, released their first album "Divan". With Sabahat Akkiraz who has achieved an international fame in Turkish Folk Music, Orient Expressions released their second album "Külliyat" (Ouvre) in 2006. They released “Kırık Kalpler Albümü” (Broken Hearts Album) towards the end of 2008. The band performed in Rock'n Coke in Istanbul, Şimdi/Now Festival in Berlin, La Mar de Musicas Festival in Spain and Jazz a la Turca in Germany.
The song "İmkansız Aşk" (Impossible Love) he composed for the TV series “Hırsız Polis”, that aired on Kanal D in which Uğur Yücel and Timuçin Esen shared the leading roles, set a record as the most downloaded song on the internet. This song appeared in his first solo album "Aşk İmkansız" (Impossible Love) in 2007. The album “HU” was released in 2010 with the project design undertaken by Cem Yildiz and the contributions of French musician Jean Pierre Smadj and Uzbek musician Rustam Mahmudzade. In 2016 he released his second solo album “cem’an”.
He made the music arrangement for the dance performance “Tevhid/Oneness”, the project design undertaken by Şule Ateş. With Barış K, he formed the band “İnsanlar” (People) in 2013. They released their first vinyl “kime ne” in 2014, he made the music arrangement for the dance performance “biz”/”we”, the project designed and undertaken by Bedirhan Dehmen. For Acid Arab’s last album “Musique de France”, he composed the song “stil”. The song which was used in the film “let the sunshine in” straring Juliet Binoche, in the Cannes Film Festival 2017.
Additionally, he composed soundtracks for tv series Hırsız-Polis, Karayılan, Sevdaluk, Benim Adım Gültepe, Fatih Harbiye, Urfalıyam Ezelden, Çoban Yıldızı, and for the motion pictures Başka Semtin Çocukları, Muro, Hükümet Kadın 1 and 2, Kara Bela, Bana Masal Anlatma, Niyazi Gül Dörtnala, Deliha 1 and 2, Bir Baba Hindu. He still continues his work with tv series, films and concert programs.
