As an original member of the New Orleans-based group
Trin-i-tee 5:7, Chanelle Haynes-Schwartz, aka
Chanel, was behind five studio albums released from 1998 through 2011. All of them peaked at either number one or number two on Billboard's Gospel Albums chart, which made Trin-i-Tee among the most successful contemporary gospel acts of that era. In 2014,
Chanel released her first solo album,
Trin-i-tee 5:7: According to Chanel. Issued on the Obsidian label, its material was more stylistically broad than her group's output. It incorporated not only contemporary R&B but pop- and club-oriented flavors as well. The week after its release, it debuted at number 25 on Gospel Albums. ~ Andy Kellman
