What is the hallmark of the Fauré Quartet? Above all the ensemble’s love of experimentation. Violinist Erika Geldsetzer, violist Sascha Frömbling, cellist Konstantin Heidrich and pianist Dirk Mommertz are all musicians who are not afraid of venturing into new territory.
Unheeding of genre barriers, they function as one unit on a musical level, be it with artists such as Rufus Wainwright or Sven Helbig, the NDR Big Band, in clubs such as Berlin's Berghain, the Cocoon Club or Le Poisson Rouge in New York. Their breakthrough came four years after the ensemble was formed, when they won the German Music Competition, and they have won more than one ECHO Klassik award. The quartet regularly tours around the world, giving recitals and masterclasses; they have numerous award-winning recordings to their name, released on the Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Classical labels, and now they are on Berlin Classics.
In all their activities the musicians are constantly breaking the mould when it comes to their audience's expectations in order to prove how diverse chamber music really can be.
