Founded by former
Talk Normal drummer Andrya Ambro,
Gold Dime's experimental rock moves from abrasive to sensual to dreamlike, often in the course of one song. After
Talk Normal took a break in 2013, Ambro learned guitar in order to better express her ideas to guitarists she wanted to collaborate with, and ended up writing songs in the process.
Gold Dime began playing live in 2014, with Ambro playing drums and singing, accompanied by Jessica Ackerley on guitar and Ian Douglas-Moore on bass. In the studio, Ambro worked with the Dreebs' bassist, Jordan Bernstein, and
the Sediment Club's guitarist, Lazar Bozic. The band's debut album,
Nerves (which they made with the help of
PC Worship's Justin Frye, Eaters' Jonathan Schenke, and Ambro's former
Talk Normal bandmate Sarah Register), arrived in June 2017. ~ Heather Phares
