Herizen Guardiola, aka
Herizen, is an actress and singer who makes emotive alternative pop. She debuted in 2018 with the
Come Over to My House EP.
Born in 1996 in Miami, Florida,
Herizen grew up in a creative, multicultural family of Cuban and Jamaican descent, the daughter of reggae artist
Johnny Dread and yoga instructor Venice Pink. She started singing at a young age, joining her father on-stage by age five, and eventually discovering classic artists like
Bob Marley,
Fleetwood Mac,
the Beatles, and
Nirvana. She also pursued acting and first came to the public's attention in 2016 starring as aspiring singer Mylene Cruz in
Baz Luhrmann's television series
The Get Down. More acting work followed, including roles on Dare Me and American Gods. On the heels of several collaborations with
Absofacto,
Herizen released her debut EP,
Come Over to My House, in 2018. In 2020, she returned with her second EP, Demon, on which she co-produced all of the songs, including the spotlight tracks "Hell Boy" and "Range Rover." ~ Matt Collar
