For a majority of her childhood in San Francisco,
Jocelyn Enriquez had the opportunity to flex her vocal talents. From her early adolescent years performing with the San Francisco Girls Chorus and the San Francisco Opera Company later on, her stage experience eventually won her a recording contract with Classified Records by the time she turned 16. Her debut
Lovely hit the streets in 1994, prompting Tommy Boy Records to take notice and release
Enriquez's follow-up, conveniently titled
Jocelyn three years later. Her first single "Do You Miss Me" hit the R&B and dance charts in 1997, and
Enriquez earned the opportunity to tour with such acts as
the Fugees,
LL Cool J,
Brandy,
Mase and
Dru Hill. Following her return to the Bay Area in 1998, she accepted the award for Best R&B Artist at the Bay Area Music Awards and was honored at the 1998 "Bridge Builders" Asian American Leadership Awards. ~ Mike DaRonco
