Commercial house artists from Sheffield who scored a big breakthrough hit with ‘House Arrest’, which rose to UK number 3 in 1988, featuring the vocals of later Definition Of Sound member Kevwon (Kevin Clark). The band comprise Mark Gamble and Cassius Campbell, who lace their standard house/disco rhythms with a quicksilver backbeat which was actually less obtrusive than many similar outfits. The unobscured vocals belonged to Ruth Joy, the veteran house diva. The follow-up material was less effective largely because it lacked the hypnotic, catchy tone of ‘House Arrest’. Following record company problems Gamble would go on to work with Rhythmatic. The Krush name was revived in 1992 with a cover of Rockers Revenge’s ‘Walking On Sunshine’, by which time they had moved from Fon to Network Records.
