German pianist
Michael Endres is a native of Sonthofen in the Bavarian Alps. He studied piano with
Klaus Schilde, Karl-Hermann Mrongovius,
Jacob Lateiner, and Peter Feuchtwanger, and holds a master's degree from the Juilliard School of Music.
Endres taught piano at Cologne University of Music from 1993 to 2004, and later at the University of Music "Hans Eisler," Berlin, the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, and the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway.
Endres possesses a wide repertoire, but his concentration on Classical and early Romantic piano music has resulted in recordings of
Schubert (including the complete piano sonatas for Capriccio Records),
Mendelssohn,
Schumann,
Mozart, and
Weber, though he has ventured into recording the works of
Gershwin,
Ravel, and
Bax for Oehms Classics.
