Canadian R&B singer-songwriter Sway Clarke was born in Toronto, Canada, but left in 2011 for Berlin where he began to release his music. In 2013, he debuted with his single, “I Don’t Need Much”, which was touted by popular blogs including Pigeons and Planes, NME, EarMilk, as well as The FADER, who hailed Sway Clarke as "R&B's next big internet stud".
That same year, Sway Clarke was the featured vocalist and songwriter on "Tears Run Dry" on Tinie Tempah's 2013 release Demonstration.
In 2014, Sway Clarke signed to Capitol/Island Records, and released “Secret Garden” as his first major label release. In early 2015 he met UK producer Nellee Hooper (Massive Attack, Gwen Stefani) and began working on his debut album, “Plastic Romantic”. The album was completed in the summer of 2016, but was never released due to label issues.
In 2015, Sway Clarke co-wrote John Legend’s “Skyway” for the soundtrack of John Legend executive produced film, “Can You Dig This?” He also co-wrote and featured on both Swiss artist Stress’ single, “Love You When I’m High”, and Australian rapper 360’s “Weekend”.
Sway Clarke continued to release music with a mixtape of 90's cover songs entitled "QUIET. IT'S MY 90's MIXTAPE" in February 2016, and his first solo EP "Bad Love" in June that same year with featured Tycho on the track “Tangerine”.
In 2016, Sway Clarke began songwriting for German rock band The Beatsteaks latest release, “Yours” as well as German superstar rapper Marteria’s album “Roswell”. He also appeared on the Marteria’s “Geld Muss Weg” The Krauts Remix alongside BRKN in September 2017.
After leaving Capitol/Island Records, in 2018, Sway released his first independent album, The Messy Red, including standout tracks “Drugs” and “#missamerica”. Ever the workhorse, Sway is now working on new project with German superstar, Peter Fox that is due out early 2019.
