Marea fans had to wait an unprecedented four years -- attenuated by a live and a compilation album -- before the release of
En Mi Hambre Mando Yo, the Spanish hard rock stalwarts' sixth studio album. No major surprises here, as
Marea deliver another effective serving of potent '70s rock and metal, built around the dual-guitar attack of
Kolibri Díaz (also the band's producer) and César Ramallo, and
Kutxi Romero's distinctive lyrics and vocals. If anything, the record is characterized by a crisper and even more powerful sound than in the past, thanks in no small part to the input of engineers
Mike Fraser (
AC/DC,
Metallica) and
Adam Ayan (
Nirvana,
Pearl Jam), who mixed and mastered the album, respectively. ~ Mariano Prunes
