José Serebrier Conducts Granados does much of what it says on the tin, but not just Granados - this album by the famous conductor also includes other major composers such as Albéniz and Tárrega, and less known ones outside of Spain such as Chapi, Morera, Lamote de Grignon, etc., more or less all born between 1850 and 1900. In addition to being Hispanic, these works also have in common the fact that they’re adaptations or original versions for string orchestras, and the string orchestra in question is Concerto Málaga, an ensemble founded in 1966 that specialises in Hispanic music from the Baroque era to present day. Rare works, or uncommon versions, which you’ll really enjoy discovering. It is worth noting that, although Hispanic, most of these works are in no shape or form the “musical postcard” one might expect. © SM/Qobuz
