In the first part of this double album Anna Netrebko and her tenor husband Yusif Eyvazov sing romantic romances (super-duper-romantic romances to be precise), from works by the Russian star of popular orchestral music Igor Krutoy – let’s simply inform the listener that it is very, very far from a great opera, even from a melody or a Lied. They are more akin to a bowl of sweets, not complex but undeniably popular – allegedly. The second part of the album is entirely dedicated to Anna Netrebko, in particular to older recordings made (for the most part live on stage, as opposed to Krutoy’s part, which is pure studio recording) with Abbado, Gergiev, Pappano or Luisi, but exclusively opera hits – Puccini, Verdi, Kálmán, Lehár, Dvořák, Bellini, Tchaikovsky, in other words, all the works with which the soprano star has excelled in the last few years, both on stage and in her records. An album for true enthusiasts, with a booklet as a bonus containing a few outrageously romantic pictures of both singers! © SM/Qobuz
